No usable camera here, so 📷 snap-and-fill will do nothing on this device — it will look broken rather than say so. That is not a fault: it just means this machine is a scanner-gun device, and photo capture belongs on a phone. Seen for real 2026-07-31 — the same photo flow that works on a phone did nothing on the tablet.

This browser is below Banco's floor (Chrome 84 / Safari 14). Screens can arrive blank rather than merely ugly. Update it, or use a different device for the till.

3 · Can this machine take dictation?

Speaking a product name instead of typing it on the glass. Press, say something, wait. The answer is the same on every device of this model, so this only has to be done once — but it has to be done on the machine, because nothing else can answer it.

🔴 ANSWERED 2026-09-17 — and the answer is no. network on the shop tablet (Debian Chromium 152) and on the desktop (Google Chrome 152), with both machines verified online at the time — the tablet reached google.com and the shop, 200 each, minutes before. Two different builds, two different key sets, same refusal. Free browser dictation is not available to us. Dictation, if we ever want it, is a small model on our own server. The button still works: press it on a NEW device before assuming the same, because that is the one thing this card was ever for.

⚠️ This sends the audio to Google. The browser's built-in speech recognition is not offline — it uploads what you say. Fine for reading a product name off a packet; not a thing to use near a customer conversation. If this test works, that is the trade to decide: free and instant, versus a small model on our own server.
